All about Mayfield and how to find us.

About Mayfield Myself (Julia) and husband Kerry and our 3 children who are now adults, live on 100 acres in a small country town called Bungaree about 15 km from Ballarat, about 100 km from Melbourne, in Victoria Australia. Our soil is rich red volcanic soil ideal for potatoes, and of course Highland Cattle. We run a small business "floor sanding and sealing floorboards, laying cork and parquetry floors." My husband quoted on a floor one day in 1991 and come home with two beautiful pregnant ¾ older cows, and now we are proud owners of between 50 and 60 highland cows and calves, depending on the time of calving. We strive to breed "Show" animals, using different bloodlines, using our own bulls or A I'ing. We breed white, black, red, yellow, and brindle colours. Our steers are sold directly to Highland Beef Suppliers here in Victoria at weaning up to 12 months of age, for them to grow out until they are nearly 2 years old. (That way - I don't send them off to you know where? We don't talk about what happens to them in our house). We have pregnant cows, some with calves, heifers and at times bulls for sale.Steers are sold to the market or directly to a Highland Beef Supplier We also breed White Dorper Sheep, at this stage only a small number of sheep but we do intend to increase our numbers.
